Why do we have to learn English?

The answer to such a question would be obvious. Students, parents and people in general will give the same answer. It is true that today it has become the most important means of communication worldwide. From an almost unknown language spoken by just a relatively number of people in a small country in the north of Europe a few centuries ago, this language has gone through an almost incredible growth.

Nowadays, in any field you have to deal with, English is a must.

Our school, College Saint Pierre, being conscious of the need and importance of this language, has been a pioneer not only in the region but among the majority of the educational institutions in Lebanon that teach French as the first foreign language.

Today our school offers seven English hours a week in the KG (pre-school) and five in the primary section. Such an intensified programme will provide these kids with the opportunity of being able to master the language once they are in higher grades.

Even though the number of English hours in the secondary classes is not what we would like it to be, a high percentage (between 40 – 50%) of our 12 grade students (S 3) are right now able to continue their university studies in English teaching universities.

We cannot but pay to God almighty will help us His blessing to continue with the mission, we teachers have chosen, to impart knowledge, culture, moral values, but above all good Christian education that would allow them to be Lebanese citizens capable of playing a positive and contractive role in our dearest country.
