A Word From The School Counselor

Childhood is not simply a time of innocence and growing up. However, this period is when young people must confront difficult tasks. A School Counselor, assists students, develop strategies to conquer society before society conquers them. By teaching children social skills, and a healthy way of coping, a School Counselor serves as a role model among the youth. Their main purpose is assisting children with educational, emotional, and social development skills that will guide them in the direction of a healthier future.

I have been a school counselor for the past seven years, and it’s my fourth year working with Saint Pierre students, helping, guiding, and nurturing them along life’s path. I have reached my goal of breaking the “taboo” of counseling in Baskinta. It has been an honor working with parents, teachers, and school administration.

This year we guided students to identify roadblocks that prevented them from learning, using different methods of counseling such as; group counseling, individual counseling, and career guidance. It was obvious by demonstrating a fair, ethical model of how to behave in life, and choosing the correct path to success, we were able to reach wonderful results!

Last but not least, looking forward for another fruitful year 2015-2016!

Enjoy your summer break and be safe!
